Re: TA OJS emails now sending from all roles

Hi Natalie,

It’s fine for you to use personal addresses  The problem is that
we need a real mailbox belonging to the domain “teachinganthropology.org”
to send emails from the system (both ojs and wp). We have so far
used editors@teachinganthropology.org. In the past this was also a
forwarding address, as you note. Our web host has decided this is
no longer possible, to have an email be a forwarder and a mailbox
simultaneously. Now, emails will sometimes end up to
editors@teachinganthropology.org when people reply to emails from
the system and if the find the OJS principal contact. I am
monitoring this email address but not much comes through.

I’ve just edited the contact page so that Alison’e email is not
editors@teachinganthropology.org but alison.macdonald@ucl.ac.uk

Best,
Eli

Hi Eli,
Sorry for the delay. I don’t access the
editors@ email. I think it was used for my account because
my usual gmail one wasn’t working (was associated with an
old account). I’ve set up a new account NattyWork99@gmail.com
and I’ve tried to change the settings on my OJS profile, but
I’m not sure if that has solved anything. Usually, I think
we just get emails sent to editors@ automatically forwarded
on to our personal email accounts (ie natalie.djohari@gmail.com)
which we reply to from our own accounts.

Dear both,

Following up on the below.

We have now fixed the issue with emails not sending from
all roles. I probably should go through the whole process
from submission to production with a test article to
confirm everything is working – but I thought I’d let you
know so you can continue production of the issue you’re
working on.

Still there remains to decide how you will access the
mailbox editors@teachinganthropology.org.
The details for webmail are below. I think this is
particularity relevant for Natalie, as you use this
address for your OJS user. You could change your editor’s
user email to gmail for now, perhaps.

I am keeping an eye on the inbox at editors@teachinganthropology.org
and will forward email to you.

Best,
Eli

Hi again,

This has been an issue since I edited the forwarding
address on the 25/09.

Previously our web host who provides the mail server
and mailbox, allowed us to use editors@teachinganthropology.org
as both a forwarding address and a real mailbox for
sending emails. This is no longer allowed.

I have therefore set up the mailbox as a webmail here:
webmail.dreamhost.com
u: editors@teachinganthropology.org
p: statecraft2017

So emails will not be forwarded to your addresses, you
have to check them separately using the details above.
Or, you could set it up as IMAP, see instructions for
that here: https://help.dreamhost.com/hc/en-us/articles/214918038-Email-client-configuration-overview.
I can also do a quick zoom about this.

However, there is also another problem. It seems that
only emails from my user (eli@nomadit.co.uk)
is sent through the system, and no other emails. I have
asked our web developer Hugh to look into this for me
today, and will keep you posted.

Best wishes,
Eli

Hi again Eli,
Every time myself or Natalie
try to contact an anytime, we keep getting
bounce back emails saying the email can’t be
delivered. I think the issue must be at our
end, so could you possibly look into this
please?
Very best,
Alison

Hi Eli,
See below … I just requested revisions from
an author and got the bounce back.
Is this an issue at their end, or our end?
All best,
Alison
