Caroline is Professor of Human Ecology at the department of Anthropology, UCL. As an environmental anthropologist, her research interests focus on political ecological approaches to studying livelihoods of small-scale fishers, and fisher/farmer populations in floodplain/estuarine environments, in the Mekong Basin, East Africa and the UK (Thames Estuary). As an educator, her key interests lie in experiential and situated learning; research-based education; critical pedagogies in HE and student partnership in curriculum reform. She is currently engaged in a long-term project where undergraduate students join her as partners in her ongoing field research in the Thames Estuary -learning from each other, building on the research of previous student cohorts and giving advice and guidance to the cohort that will follow. She has also worked with students to decolonise their curricula and develop an academic skills training programme.
